Birth Pool Rental

Have you considered using a pool to labor and/or birth in?  Laurie has a La Bassine maxi pool available to rent for your birthing time.

Features of this pool include:

  • Cocoon like shape, with plenty of room for two people to move around. The pool measures 75" x 65", it's 28" tall, and holds 165 gallons of water.

  • Deep, inflated floor, to give the extra comfort needed during active birth positions such as kneeling and squatting.

  • Transparent sides, to give midwives good visibility from outside the pool.

  • Perfect water depth that fully covers your belly without being too deep that you feel insecure.

  • Four solid internal handles, perfectly placed, exactly where you need them! Use to assist in position changes, or to grab on to while you push.

  • Two top handles for assistance when getting in and out of the pool.

  • Three separate chambers-- If one chamber were punctured, water would be retained by the other two.

Common Questions and Concerns

How long is the rental period?

4 weeks, with the option to extend at $50/week

What is included in the rental?

pool, disposable liner (required for use) air pump, sink adapter (you may need to purchase a different on if it doesn't work with your faucet), water pump, disposable debris net

How much is the security deposit?

It is the same as the cost of the rental-- $100 for birth doula clients, $125 for others.  If everything is returned in good condition the deposit is returned within 7 days.  If the pumps or sink adapter is damaged or not returned I will deduct their cost from the deposit.

What am I responsible for/need to have?

You will need to provide the drinking water safe hose to fill and drain the pool.  Alternatively you can purchase one from me.

You will be responsible to pick up the pool (unless paying for delivery service from me), set it up, take it down, clean it from any large particles, and return it to me.

I will provide one sink adapter but you may need to purchase a different one if it doesn't fit your faucet.

Are the pools cleaned before use?

Of course!  A disposable liner is required for each use and the pool is returned clean from large particles.  I then clean and sanitize everything with a hospital grade sanitizer.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations before 36 weeks receive a full refund, minus the $50 booking fee.  No refunds after 36 weeks, except for the security deposit.

How long does it take to set up/take down?

It takes about an hour to set up and fill the pool.  Allow a little extra time if your water heater will need time.  The pool holds 165 gallons of water.

What do I need to do before returning the pool?

Make sure the pool and all parts are clean from any large particles, and dry, before packing back into the tote.
